Like all medications, Wegovy® and Monjaro® can cause side effects, including nausea, vomiting, constipation, and diarrhea. Not everyone experiences these, but when they do occur, they usually subside after a few weeks as the body adjusts to the medication. One of the reasons for the gradual increase in dosage every few weeks is to give your body a chance to tolerate the medication, making these side effects less likely to occur or less problematic.
Although rare, it may potentially lead to pancreatitis, severe allergic reactions/anaphylaxis, or exacerbate gallbladder disease.
If you develop abdominal pain or notice signs of an allergic reaction (e.g., difficulty breathing, rash, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue) while taking this medication, you should seek medical attention immediately and inform them that you are taking this medication.
Please refer to the ‘Managing Side Effects’ page or read the package insert for complete details on side effects.
