Nausea and vomiting are common side effects of Mounjaro and Wegovy, affecting about 1 in 10 users. These often occur when the dosage is increased.
To manage these symptoms, you can do the following:
Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of clear fluids like water or herbal teas. Avoid sugary drinks, especially if you have diabetes.
Eat small, frequent meals. Smaller portions can help alleviate symptoms.
Try herbal teas. Ginger, peppermint, or fennel teas can be soothing for nausea and vomiting.
Avoid strongly scented foods. These can exacerbate nausea and worsen discomfort.
Take anti-nausea medications. You can inquire about anti-nausea medications at your local pharmacy. These medications can help relieve symptoms while your body adjusts to the higher doses of GLP-1 treatment.
Get some fresh air. A walk outside can distract you and alleviate nausea.
If you vomit more than three times a day or experience severe vomiting with additional symptoms like abdominal pain, this may indicate that Mounjaro or Wegovy is not suitable for you. Monitor your symptoms closely.
If your urine is dark, you are urinating less frequently than usual, or you feel dizzy, this could be a sign of dehydration. In this case, drink more fluids and seek medical help.
