When will my progress be reviewed?
Your progress will normally be assessed after approximately six months of treatment.
During the review, the clinical team may consider:
How much weight you have lost
Whether the treatment is helping you achieve your health goals
Any side effects you have experienced
Whether you are following the prescribed dosing plan
Changes to your health or other medications
Whether continuing treatment remains safe and appropriate
You may also require additional reviews during treatment if your health, medication or circumstances change.
How is my response to treatment assessed?
Your response may be assessed by comparing your current weight with your weight at the beginning of treatment.
As part of the six-month review, the clinical team may check whether you have lost at least 5% of your starting weight.
Reaching this threshold does not automatically guarantee that treatment will continue. The prescriber must also confirm that the medication remains safe, suitable and beneficial for you.
What if I have lost less than 5% of my starting weight?
If you have lost less than 5% of your starting weight after approximately six months, the clinical team will review your treatment.
They may consider:
Whether you have reached an effective treatment dose
How consistently the medication has been used
Whether side effects have affected your treatment
Whether another treatment or approach may be more appropriate
Do not change your dose or stop treatment without clinical guidance.
Does reaching a particular BMI mean treatment must stop?
Reaching a particular BMI does not automatically mean that treatment must stop.
Your current BMI is one factor considered during a treatment review. The prescriber will also consider your progress, health, response to treatment and whether continuing remains clinically appropriate.
The earlier statement that treatment automatically continues until a BMI of 25 has therefore been removed.
How long can treatment continue?
If you have responded to treatment and it remains safe and clinically appropriate, treatment may continue for up to two years under medical supervision.
Continuation is not automatic. Your eligibility and clinical suitability must continue to be confirmed during treatment.
The maximum treatment period may also depend on the current MedExpress Germany prescribing and treatment policy.
Which rule takes priority?
Patient safety and ongoing clinical suitability always take priority.
Treatment may be reviewed, changed or stopped at any time if:
The medication is no longer considered safe or suitable
You experience side effects that make continued treatment inappropriate
Your health or other medications change
The expected treatment response is not achieved
The maximum approved treatment period is reached
Your prescriber will make the final decision based on your individual circumstances.
