Prescription requirements for MedExpress orders

You do not need an existing prescription to order medication through MedExpress, nor can you submit an existing prescription from an external doctor.

No existing prescription required: MedExpress integrates the prescription request directly into the online ordering process, eliminating the need to visit a doctor prior to placing an order.

No external prescriptions accepted: MedExpress cannot accept, process, or fulfil existing paper or digital prescriptions issued by outside healthcare providers.

Online doctor consultation: When placing an order, you complete an online health consultation. An EU-registered doctor reviews your medical details to determine whether the requested treatment option is suitable for your health condition.

Private prescription issuance: If the EU-registered doctor approves your chosen treatment, a private prescription is issued directly to our pharmacy team for dispensing.

Traditional online pharmacies (ShopApotheke, DocMorris): These online pharmacies require patients to already possess an existing prescription from a local doctor, which must be uploaded or sent by post before prescription medications can be dispensed and delivered.

The MedExpress integrated process: At MedExpress, the prescription request is directly built into the ordering journey, meaning an existing prescription is not required. Once an EU-registered doctor evaluates your consultation and approves the private prescription, the medication is dispensed and delivered directly to your home address.
