How to Enable Camera Permissions for Photo Uploads

To complete your medical consultation or verify your weight, you may need to upload photos directly through your browser. If your camera is not opening, you likely need to set camera access to “Allow” in your browser or device settings.

How to Enable Camera Access by Browser

Google Chrome

  • Windows & macOS: Click the lock icon 🔒 to the left of the web address. Set Camera to “Allow” or “On.”

  • Android: Tap the three dots (menu) > Settings > Site settings > Camera. Make sure the camera is set to “Allowed.”

  • iOS (iPhone/iPad): Open your device Settings > Chrome and make sure Camera is turned on.

Safari

  • macOS: Open Safari > Settings > Websites. Select Camera in the left sidebar and change the setting for MedExpress to “Allow.”

  • iOS (iPhone/iPad): Tap the “AA” icon in the address bar > Website Settings. Set Camera to “Allow.”

Firefox

  • Windows & macOS: Click the permissions/lock icon next to the URL. If the camera is blocked, click the “X” next to “Blocked” to clear the setting. Refresh the page so that the “Allow” prompt appears again.

  • Android: Tap the three dots (menu) > Settings > Site permissions > Camera > “Allow.”

How to Enable Camera Access by Operating System

If the browser settings are correct but the camera still does not work, check your device privacy settings:

  • Windows 10/11: Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera. Make sure “Camera access” is on and your browser, such as Chrome or Firefox, is allowed to use the camera.

  • macOS: Choose Apple Menu > System Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera. Make sure camera access is enabled for your browser.

  • iOS/Android: Go to your device Settings > Apps > select your browser, such as Chrome or Safari > Permissions > Camera > “Allow.”

  • Linux: Camera permissions are typically managed by the browser itself. Make sure the browser is not running in a “Sandbox” or “Snap” mode that restricts hardware access without additional configuration.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Refresh the page: Many changes only take effect after you refresh the page.

  • Check File Type: Make sure your photos are in JPG or PNG format. “Live Photos” (HEIC) from iPhones may not upload correctly.

  • File Size: If your file is too large, try lowering your camera quality settings or taking the photo from slightly further away.
